Managing Absence, Sickness and Stress

Michelle Shields, LL.B. MCIPD, joined Railtrack, in 1998 as the zone Resourcing Manager. Prior to this she spent three years as an HR Manager in the further education sector, and nine years with BT. Following the creation of Network Rail in 2002, Michelle was the HR Manager for the Scotland Region and in 2004 became Lead HR manager for all operations and customer services covering the three main routes north of London. She is also manages the relationship with the company’s medical providers – BUPA and HCC and the integration of these services into one overall package. Michelle is a law graduate of the University of Aberdeen and has a Post-Graduate Diploma in Personnel Administration from Robert Gordon University. She is a corporate member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development and an Associate Member of the British Psychological Society.
